Hugh Alexander Clark, resident of Pemiscot county since early in the century, died at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, February 24, and funeral services were held at the First Baptist church on Thursday afternoon, with the Rev. Glen Johnson of Tallapoosa, Mo., assisted by the Rev. Guy Magee officiating.
Burial was in Maple cemetery, with H.S. Smith service.
Mr. Clark was born in Gibson county, Tenn., June 22, 1883, the son of Henry and Margaret Clark. He moved to this county from Dyer county, Tenn., in 1904 and engaged in farming for many years. He was a member of the Micola Baptist church.
In Dyersburg, Tenn. on December 25, 1906, he was married to Miss Maude Graham, who passed away on June 9, 1954.
He leaves five sons, Willie Clark of Poplar Bluff, J. Hugh Clark of Granite City, Ill., Perry and Ralph H. Clark, of Tallapoosa and Vester Clark of this city; two daughters, Mrs. Ethie Hinchey of Micola and Mrs. Rosemary Stone, of this city.
Also three brothers survive, Clarence Clark of Caruthersville and Grover and Albert Lee Clark of Tennessee; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Brewer of Memphis and Mrs. Sallie Williams, Poyner, Mo.; nineteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
