Roy was the son of Thomas Pink Smith and Easter Lewis Smith.

He was the spouse of Vennie Smith.

Roy A. Smith

Roy Ausie Smith, 58, Rt. 1, Town Creek, died at Colbert County Hospital today at 1:50 a.m. following a six moths' illness. Mr. Smith is a native of Lawrence County, a member of Wolf Springs Church of Christ, a song leader at the church for 18 years, and a retired farmer and carpenter.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Wolf Springs Church of Christ with Ermon Bain and Harvey Haska officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before services, and will be at the residence until time for funeral services.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Vennia May Smith, Rt. 1, Town Creek; three sons, Roy Smith, Russellville, Kyle M. Smith and Sterling Smith, Sheffield; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Berryman, Mrs. Dwight Franks, Town Creek; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Jasper Smith, Town Creek, Fred Smith, Cullman; five sisters, Mrs. Fairvy Norton, Courtland, Mrs. Ellis Patterson, Mrs. Kyle Taylor, Mrs. Ruby Smith, Decatur, Mrs. M.H. Odell, Huntsville; a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be James Sparks, Sterling Poole, James Berryman, Garth Parker, Vernon Harrison, Floyd Boyd, Coolidge Harrison and Ira Boyd.

Spry Funeral Home of Sheffield is in charge of arrangements.
