HENRIEVILLE, Utah -- Delano Callahan, 72, of Henrieville, Utah, passed away February 2, 2005, in the Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch.
He was born November 7, 1932, in Lyman, Utah, to David John and Hazel Dell Allen Callahan.
He lived in Lyman until the age of 8 when his family moved to South Jordan, Utah. He lived there until he met his sweetheart of 53 years, LaRona McInelly. They were married June 18, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Delano worked as a custodian for the Granite school district for many years and he had his own cleaning business.
He was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in many positions, including High Priest and Scout Master. He was able to help five boys achieve their Eagle Scout award. He and LaRona was called as stake missionaries. He sang in the ward choir and he loved to do temple work. He had a great testimony of the gospel and love for the Savior.
Delano liked playing the electric guitar, working with wood and had a passion for cooking.
He loved spending time with his family and friends and gave great service to them. He has 34 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and they brought him great joy. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, LaRona, of Henrieville; children, LaRonda (Terry) Longhurst, Mexico; Cindy (Thor) Johnson, Henrieville; Linda (Dave) Clayton, Kansas; Robin (Danny) Chynoweth, Tropic; Shaunna (Glenn) Pendley, Henrieville; and Ken (Lorraine) Callahan, Sandy; sisters, Glenda Garlock, North Ogden; Wilma Baldwin, St. George; Thisby Allen, Sandy; and Velma (Bill) Abner, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son and daughter-in-law, John (Terry) Callahan; grandson, Cody Lee Callahan; brothers, David Trenton Callahan and Derrill Callahan; and sisters, Vadas Callahan and June Callahan.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 11, 2005, at 12 Noon in the Henrieville LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Henrieville on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Henrieville Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Neal S.
