Robert Esley "Bob" Young was the son of William Esley Young (1856-1938) and Clara Ida Murray Young (1859-1946). Bob grew up in Ness and Rice Counties, Kansas. He and his brother, Ralph Arthur Young, both served in France and other areas during WWI. Bob was gassed during this war and it affected his health throughout his life. During WWII, Bob worked for the Red Cross as Service Officer in Sedgwick County, Kansas.
15 Jun 1924 in Little River, Kansas, he married Edna Melissa Edgerton. She was born 30 Apr 1890 and died 1 June 1960. They had no children.
About 1925 Bob & Edna moved to Montana where in 1926 he began working for the Sugar Beet Factory in Billings. He later was the storekeeper for the Great Western Sugar Company in Ovid, Colorado for 22 years until his death.
He was a past Commander and Charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Ovid, Colorado and a member of the American Legion. Was a District Director for the Boy Scouts, member of the Masonic Blue Lodge and Shrine of Billings, Montana, and Knights Templar of Sterling, Kansas Commandry.
