Cleo Slade, 79, of Desloge Missouri, died Feb. 10, 1997, in the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, Farmington.

He was born on Aug. 5, 1917, in Webb City Missouri, the son of the late Oscar W. and Jane Elizabeth (Blanton) Slade. He was also preceded in death by one brother; Harold Slade and a granddaughter; Christina.

Mr. Slade was a member of the Mineral Area Elks Lodge-Desloge and the Desloge VFW Post 2426.

He is survived by his wife, Velma (Crump) Slade, two sons; Ron C. Slade of Ste. Genevieve, Steven L. Slade of Farmington, two daughters; Mrs. John (Jean) Jenkerson of Farmington, and Mrs. John (Cynthia) Dawson of Bismarck Missouri, a half-brother; Carroll Forrester of Leadwood, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the C. Z. Boyer Funeral Home in Desloge, Missouri. Mineral Area Elks Service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Chapel in Desloge with the Rev. Gene Gainer officiating. Burial will be in Leadwood Cemetery.
