Velma B. Slade, 83, St. Joe Manor, formerly of Desloge, died October 28, 2004, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington.

Born on Feb. 26, 1921, in Leadwood to George E. and Grace T. (Fleeman) Crump. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar C. Slade, a granddaughter, one sister; Opal Swyers, and brothers; Cecil, Arthur, Alva, Myrel, and Ohmer Crump.

She was a member of the Mineral Area Community Elks 2583, Desloge VFW Post 2426, and Desloge Eagles Aerie 3350.

Survivors include two sons; Ronald C. Slade of Ste. Genevieve and Steven L. Slade of Terre Du Lac, two daughters; Mrs. John (Jean) Jenkerson of Farmington and Mrs. John (Cynthia) Dawson of Bismarck, nine grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild, one brother; Delbert Crump of Bonne Terre, and one sister; Hilda Roberts of Park Hills.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the C. Z. Boyer Funeral Home, Desloge. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Boyer Chapel with the Rev. Davey Welker officiating. Burial will be in Leadwood Cemetery.
