John A. Jenkins

John A. Jenkins, 82, formerly of 119 West 13th, died Saturday at The Cedars Care Home, McPherson, after a long illness. Born June 13, 1899 in Fisher, III., he married V. Aureta Tope, Oct. 10, 1927 in Anthony. She died Nov. 3, 1980. He was a retired employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and had lived in the Hutchinson area most of his life.

He was a member of the First Christian Church; Telephone Pioneers of America; Masonic Lodge No. 269, AF&AM, Wellington; Wichita Consistory.

Survivors: son: John, Windom; daughters: Mrs. Jean Corkins, 1008 Baker; Mrs. Jacinta Mae Davis, Lawrence; Shirley Jenkins, Kansas City, Mo.; sister: Mrs. Flossie Schenkosky, Ventura, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel; the Rev. Melvin Walton. Masonic graveside service at Memorial Park. Friends may call from 12 noon until 10 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
