Howell E. Hemminger

BREMEN - Howell E. "Holly" Hemminger, 83, passed away at 12:03 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009, in his home. Howell was born on June 19, 1925, in Bremen, Indiana, to the late Floyd and Ruth (Strycker) Hemminger. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Dan, and a brother, Carlyle. He was a WW II Army veteran serving in Japan, a previous employee and owner of Kenny's Super Foods, and a former Marshall County Assessor. He was also a member of the Bremen Church of the Brethren where he was a deacon for over 50 years. On June 29, 1947, he married Cathaleen Rouch, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Marianne (Tobby) Hubbs of Bremen and Kelley Leeper of Goshen; son, Scott (Marisa) Hemminger of Florida; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Hemminger of Goshen. Services will be private for the family. Burial will be at Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 State Road 331, Bremen, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bremen Church of the Brethren Building Fund or to the Center for Hospice. The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.
