SCITUATE John J. Hacker Harrigan, age 86, a life long resident of Scituate, died May 23, 2009. John was the beloved husband of Olga T. (Coscia) and the devoted father of John Jr. and his wife, Sue of Bridgewater, Mark and his wife, Joan of Scituate, and Thomas of Mystic, CT. John was the brother of the late James L. Harrigan, Helen Giuliano, Frances Banks, Thomas J. Harrigan, who died in WW II, Paul R. of Scituate. John was the son of the late Thomas F. and Elizabeth (Griffith) Harrigan. He was the grandfather of Kerry, Kristin, Sean, Ryan, and Sarah Harrigan. John is also survived by several nieces and nephews. John was a graduate of Scituate High School, Class of 1940 and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II. He worked as the Assistant Post Master at the Scituate Post Office until retiring. John was a member of Scituate Country Club and was an avid golfer. He was also a stamp and coin collector. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus #3716 and Past Commander of the V.F.W. Post on Rt. 3A in Scituate. John also served as a Call Firefighter in Scituate. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 10 a.m. in St. Marys of the Nativity Church, Scituate Harbor. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m. at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthonys Church), Cohasset. Interment Cudworth Cemetery, Scituate, MA.
