Born August 3, 1935 in Greene Co., he was the son of Milford H. and Abbie E. (Neely) Godsey. He married Wilma Reynolds on August 25, 1961 and she survives. He was retired from Extruded Alloy in Bedford and had worked with the Salvation Army and was a member of the church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Edwards and husband, Jim; Rebecca Hayes and husband, Jeff all of Bedford; one son, Ira Godsey and wife, Roxanne of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Alma Bottorff of Bedford and Artie Workman of Bloomfield; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Beckam, Hurstle, Hobart, Robert, Lowell Gilbert (in infancy) and Oliver Godsey; four sisters, Zelma Rainbolt, Dorothy Hall, Ruby Adkins and Elsie Banks.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 23rd from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Max Abel officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery with military rites accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
