ELMER R. SHORE

Elmer R. Shore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Shore, was born near LaGrange in Cedar township, Lucas county, Iowa, on January 4, 1865, and departed this life at his home three miles south of Chariton on Monday morning, December 4, 1933, aged 68 years and 11 months.

On January 4, 1887, he was married to Della Wayland, and to this union three children were born, one of whom died in infancy.

Mr. Shore had lived all of his life in Lucas county, and had always been a farmer. At an early age he was converted into the christian faith, and in the early beginning of the Chariton United Brethren church he united with it. He passed to his eternal home triumphant in the faith of his risen Lord. During his lingering illness of two months, and especially the past few weeks, he spent much time in prayer, singing, and in talking of the higher and eternal values of life here and hereafter.

He is survived by his wife and by two sons, Harley Lee, of north of Chariton, and Era L., of south of this city. There are also four brothers and one sister, Archibald Shore and George Shore, of Chariton; Joseph Shore, of Blunt, South Dakota; Charles Shore, of near Columbia; Mrs. Nancy Ellen Duckworth, living near Russell; and seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. O. O. Hobson, were held at the United Brethren church in Chariton on Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock, and burial took place in the Zion cemetery.
