SHORE

After a prolonged illness, during which his suffering was intense, Emery Shore departed this life on Friday evening, Feb. 10. Mr. Shore was born Dec. 29, 1858. He was a native of Carroll Co. Illinois, but had spent the greater portion of his life in this vicinity.

The latter part of last November he became afflicted with neuralgia, which developed into numerous abscesses, gradually sapped his strength until he was no longer able to cope with the disease. All through his illness he was tenderly nursed and all that loving hands could do was done to alleviate his suffering.

The sorrowing wife, companion of 25 years, the son, and numerous relatives and friends mourn his departure from their midst, but it is most comforting to know that "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." And as they review his life, study the christian character he was building, and consider his labor with the congregation at Coal Glen, what comfort may they find in the word of God, "Them that honor me I will honor."

Rev. Bates conducted the funeral service at Zion on Sunday at 11 o'clock. And though a storm was raging, the house was filled with sympathizing friends who thus in silent eloquence manifested their esteem for the departed. The remains were laid to rest in the Zion cemetery where earth shall to earth return and from whence upon the glorious morn of resurrection it shall rise clothed with immortality and enter the mansions of eternal rest.

Husband of Emma Retta Grimes. Son of Matthew Shore and Sarah Ann McNeal.
