Ethel M. Rhodes, 66, of Hendersonville,NC died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the Elizabeth House following a short illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late George and Myrtle Dalton Murphy. She was a member of West Hendersonville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her loving husband, Ronald Rhodes; one daughter, Jennifer Staton and husband Chris; one granddaughter, Ava Staton; five brothers, G.L., James, Paul, Charles and Roy Murphy; three sisters, Nancy Davis, Peggy Griffin and Mary Metcalf along with several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, May 25, 2009 at Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel with Rev. Clarence Adkins and Rev. Tracy Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she was a giving spirit with an abounding faith in her Lord and Savior, never wanting to draw attention to herself but others. She loved to cook for all the wonderful children who adored her and will be missed by all that had come to know and love her.

In honor of her giving nature, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, along with any food, may be donated to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 571 South Allen Rd, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
