George Lambert "G.L." Murphy, Jr., 89, of Hendersonville, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Henderson County to the late George Lambert Murphy Sr., and Myrtle Dalton Murphy. He was also predeceased by his wife, Norma Blythe Murphy; son, David Wayne Murphy; brothers, Sidney "Bud" Murphy, Charles Murphy, and Walt Murphy; sisters, Fannie Sue Ball, Nancy Davis, Christine McClure, Peggy Griffin, and Ethel Rhodes.

G.L was a devoted father and husband and dearly loved his family. He was also a successful builder and contractor for over 35 years. He was known to be an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener and was a member of Shaws Creek Baptist Church. G.L. also cherished and loved his 13-year-old dog "Annie."

He is survived by his daughter, Judy Brittain; son, Glen Ray Murphy; grandchildren; Rebecca Heatherly and her husband Chad, Lindsay McCraw and her husband Adam; great grandchildren, Hannah Cole and her husband Clay, Savannah, Haley, Kaitlyn, Madison, Calla, Jaxson, Creed, and Mace; great-great granddaughter, Rosalie Cole; brothers, Paul Murphy and his wife Jewell, Jimmy Murphy, Roy Murphy and his wife Sheila; sister, Mary Metcalf and her husband Jimmy; many beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at three o'clock on Thursday, July 28, 2022, in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
