ARGUS LEADER - SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA-----JANUARY 7, 1958 - MRS. J.L. SCHERER
Mrs. J. L. Scherer was born July 7, 1878 at Palo, Iowa. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Schlieman. She grew to womanhood in Iowa. On the 3rd of September, 1900 she was united in marriage to J. L. Scherer at Marion, Iowa. They moved on a farm at Hartford where she lived until her death.
To this union three children were born. One son, Leo and two daughters, Alice and Bethel. Alice preceded her in death in 1936. Those left to mourn her death are her husband, two children, four grandchildren, four brothers, and three sisters. One sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. J.L. Scherer passed away at her home Thursday night after having suffered a heart attack. Memorial services were held Monday afternoon July 10, at 2 o'clock at the Hartford Methodist Church with Rev. James Mullins officiating. The Methodist Men's quartet sang with Douglas Doggett at the organ.
Floyd Kelly, Russel Munce, Jake Stienrurth, Harvey Matthies, Charlie Main and Raymond Rueach acted as pallbearers. Mrs. Scherer will be remembered by many for the lovely plants she was able to grow and so willing to share. She spent many a pleasant hour writing and receiving letters from her pen pals from far and near.

Wife of J Louis Scherer, mother of Leo, Bethel and Alice.
