Albert Amen, 87, of Sterling, died Friday, May 7, 2004, in Sterling. Visitation is Tuesday, May 11, 10 a.m. to 6p.m. at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services are Wednesday, May 12, at 10:30 a.m., also at the funeral home, with Rev. Bob Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Amen was born July 1,1916, in Sedgwick to Conrad Amen and Katherine (Krum)
Amen.
He married Leona Schott on Jan. 8, 1939, in Sterling.
Mr. Amen was a farmer for several years, and worked as a carpenter for the RE-1 Valley school district from 1965 until his retirement in 1982.
He enjoyed woodworking, and making furniture for family
and friends. He was a former member of Zion United Church of Christ.
He is survived by son Kenneth Amen and wife Sandy, of Sterling daughters Bonnie Kruger and husband Vern, of Westminster, Pamela Hudson and husband Rick, of Thornton, and Terrie Amen and Randy, of Sterling; sisters Hazel Weber and husband Buck, of Wa Kenney,Ill, Ruth Hergenreter and husband John, of Brush, Betty Robinette, and Flora Shelabarger, both of Sterling; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren..
He was preceded in death by wife Leona in 1988; son Robert in 1962; brothers Jake and Herman Amen; and sisters Esther and Bertha.
Memorials may be made to the Heritage Center.
