Funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday for Herman Amen, 70, of Merino.

He died Sunday at his home.

Rev, Robert Howard of Zion United Church of Christ in Sterling is officiating for the service at his church, to which Mr. Amen belonged.Burial is at Merino Cemetery.Visitation is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Tennant Funeral Home.

Mr. Amen was born July 27,1921, in Logan, near Merino, to

Conrad and Katherine (Krum)Amen. He attended school in Merino.

On Nov. 30, 1942, he married Esthyre Hettinger in Sidney, Neb.Mr. Amen farmed and ranched in the Merino area. He worked 25 years for George A. Henderson Co.

and farmed for himself since 1985.Mr. Amen was a deacon in his church, a member of Merino Odd Fellows and a life member of Ster ing Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, of Merino; a daughter, Karen Webb of Grand Junction; two sons, Konrad of Merino and Thomas of Loveland; a brother, Albert of Sterling; five sisters, Esther Roth, Flora Shelabarger and Betty Robinett, all of Sterling, Ruth Hergenreter of Brush, and Hazel Weber of Wa keeney, Kan.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Bevelhimer; a brother, Jake; and a sister, Berta Hergenreter.

Tennant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
