Another longtime and honored pioneer of Bell County was called to swell the ranks of the silent majority over the river yesterday when Mrs. Margaret A. Lancaster, wife of Felix N. Lancaster, departed this life at the family home near Salado at 7:00 o’clock am. Deceased was born in Tennessee and came to Bell County with her husband 51 years ago. For 49 years of that time they have lived on the same farm on Cottonwood, east of Temple, moving two years ago to the more recent home two miles northwest of Salado.
The name of Lancaster is closely intertwined with the history of Bell County and the family has been an influence for good in country affairs for more than a half century. Deceased was 76 years of age, her womanly virtues and splendid character willing the esteem and admiration of countless friends accumulated through the long chain of passing years. Devoutly Christian, she was a God fearing woman of the old school in whom righteousness abided as She is survived by the husband and three children, Thos. E. Lancaster of Salado and Mesdames Ben Dunlap and J. F. Dunlap of Temple.
The funeral will be conducted from Christ Church, corner of Seventh and Avenue G, at 10:30 o’clock this morning by Rev. Cled E. Wallace and the body will be laid to rest in Lancaster Cemetery east of the city.
Pallbearers are W. H. Winnett, J. N. Seybold, Newt Bigham, Will Whitley, Claude D. Seybold and Houston Whitley.
