Submit Porter, dau. of David Porter and Sarah Nims, b. Feb. 20, 1783 at Williamsburg, Mass. She d. Nov. 5, 1864 at Freedom Twp, Portage County, OH.

On Dec. 7, 1799 at Williamsburg, Mass. [Williamsburg VR], Submit m. 1) Joseph Robinson, not John Robinson as stated in Submit's individual sketch in the Porter Geneal.*, s. of Jacob Robinson and his 2nd wife Deborah Wollen, b. Sept. 23, 1770 at Tisbury, Mass. Joseph was the great grandson of Rev. John Robinson of Leiden, pastor of the 1620 Mayflower Pilgrims. He likely died before August 1810 at a place yet to be determined. They had three known children b. at Williamsburg who are outlined in their father's memorial.

On May 22, 1822 at Williamsburgh, Mass. [Williamsburg Chh. Rec.], the widow Submit (Porter) Robinson m. 2) as his 2nd wife Nathan Shumway, Jr. of Belchertown, Mass., s. of Nathan Shumway and Hannah Chubb, b. at Belchertown. He d. Feb. 23, 1827 at Belchertown while working on his water-powered mill. There were no children of the marriage.

In the August 1820 census the widow Submit was enumerated both at Belchertown as a single occupant and at east adjoining Ware, Mass. residing with eldest son Hiram. By June 1850 at age 67, Submit was residing at Portage County, OH with youngest son Daniel P. Robinson then in June 1860 at Portage with her eldest son Hiram.
