MALAD MAN, 81, DIES AT HOME

Malad, Idaho - Jesse Nicholas Ward, 81, of Malad, died at the family home this morning following a lingering illness.
He was born April 17, 1874, in Snowville, Utah, a son of George and Eunice Alice (Nicholas) Ward. He moved to Woodruff, Idaho, while a small boy, where he received his education. He married Julia Ann Moon Jan. 1, 1896, at Henderson Creek, Idaho. He was a member of the LDS Church and an elder in the Malad First Ward. He was a prominent farmer and livestock grower in the Malad Valley and a director of the Malad First National Bank.
He is survived by his widow, five sons and two daughters: Julia Jessie Lorenzo Ward, George Merlin Ward, Elmer Mosiah Ward, John Clesmer Ward and Elden Keith Ward, Mrs. Ida Daniels and Julia LaVerne Ward, all of Malad; 24 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and two brothers and two sisters: Arthur M. Ward, Malad; Richard A. Ward, Pocatello; Mrs. Eunice A. Harris and Mrs. Pearl W. Thomas, both of Malad.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Malad First Ward Chapel with Bishop D. Dredge Thomas officiating. Friends may call at the family home tomorrow after 5 p.m. and Thursday until time of services. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery, under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.
