James Gamble Nippert Memorial stadium is the permanent home for the University of Cincinnati's football team, the Bearcats. Conctruction on the stadium began in 1916, and continued for eight years. During the final game of 1923, James Gamble Nippert sustained a spike wound injury, dying a month later from blood poisoning. His grandfather, James N. Gamble, of Proctor and Gamble, donated the funds required to complete the stadium, and The James Gamble Nippert Memorial Stadium was dedicated in November 8, 1924.
