The Hamilton County (Ohio) Genealogical Society was founded in 1973 to take an active role in supporting the collection and preservation of Hamilton County, Ohio records for use in genealogical and family history research. Membership has surpassed 1,000 members from our county and across the country. In celebration of the society’s 40th Anniversary and in recognition of the 150 year anniversary period since the Civil War began, a project was designed to photograph tombstones and/or create memorials of the Civil War Veterans who are buried in Hamilton County to honor their service. Volunteers from the society along with their friends and family are participating in this project. The website for the HCGS is http://hcgsohio.org and it holds a great deal of data and information helpful to family history and genealogy researchers interested in their ancestors in Hamilton County. It also holds a “members only” section with additional data.
