Obituary - Tues. Feb. 8, 1938 - Register Republic (Rockford, IL) - Oregon, Feb. 8 - Mrs. Phoebe Amanda Hardesty, 85, lifelong resident of Washington Grove, died Sunday noon at the home of her son Edward, in Lafayette township. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Chester Patton, of Ashton, former pastor of the Washington Grove church, Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. at the Robert Hardesty home. Burial will be in Washington Grove cemetery. The daughter of Henry and Phoebe Burton, Mrs. Hardesty was born March 15, 1852, and was married October 17, 1872 to George Hardesty, who preceded her in death. Two sons, Beecher and Ray, also died several years ago. Surviving are her son Edward; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Girton, Dixon; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
