Obituary - Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1929 - Morning Star (Rockford, IL) - Ashton, IL, Sept. 9 - George Hardesty Expires in Ashton - George Hardesty, a resident here since 1860 and prominent retired farmer, died at his home here today following a stroke of paralysis suffered a week ago. Mr. Hardesty was born in Ohio in 1839, and came to Ogle county in 1860. In 1872, he married Miss Amanda Burton, who survives him with three children, Beecher, of Dixon, Edward, of Ashton, and Mrs. Ruth Girton, of Dixon. Ray, preceded the father in death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Washington Grove church, the Rev. R. W. Pittman, Leaf River, assisted by the Rev. Chester Patton, local pastor, being in charge. Burial will be in Washington Grove cemetery.
