Mrs. Jedd Jones Sr.
Malad - Mrs. Jedd Jones Sr., 93, one of Malad Valley's earliest pioneers, died at her home in Malad Tuesday afternoon of causes incident to age.
Mrs. Jones was born April 29, 1861, at Brigham City, a daughter of Thomas and Mary Davis Daniels. At the age of 5 years, she moved to Malad with her parents and had resided there since.
She received her education in Malad schools. On March 20, 1883, she was married to Jedd Jones Sr., at Malad. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1933. Mr. Jones, organizer and first president of Malad's First National Bank, died in 1938.
A member of the LDS Church, Mrs. Jones once served as a counselor in the Malad Stake YWMIA, was a charter member of the Oneida County Chapter of War Mothers, charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a charter member of the Malad Kinsington Club.
Survivors include one son, Lawrence D. Jones, Malad; one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Tapper, Malad; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and three brothers and one sister, John M. Daniels, Caldwell, Idaho; Mrs. Elva Reese and George Daniels, both of Malad, and Henry Daniels Long Beach, Calif.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Malad LDS Second Ward chapel. Friends may call at the family home, 242 N. Main St., tonight and tomorrow until time of services.
Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.
