OBITUARIES
Laura Baker
Malad, Idaho - Mrs. Laura Knighton Baker, 73, died Thursday evening at her home in Malad following an extended illness with a heart ailment.
Mrs. Baker was born Aug. 3, 1880, at Bountiful, Utah, a daughter of Daniel and Margaret Lewis Knighton. She was reared and educated at Bountiful. She married Ira Baker on Dec. 18, 1901, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The couple resided at Bountiful and Clearfield before moving to Holbrook, Oneida County, in 1903.
A lifelong member of the LDS Church, Mrs. Baker was active in the Holbrook Ward Relief Society and other auxiliary organizations of the LDS Church. After moving to Malad in 1926, Mrs. Baker served as practical nurse in Malad Valley for 15 years.
Surviving are four sons and seven daughters:
William E. Baker, Weiser, Idaho; W. L. Baker, Malad; Mrs. Virginia Price, Jerome, Idaho; Mrs. Stella Stanger, Pocatello; Mrs. Laura Clark, Oakland, Calif.; Miss Adeline Baker, Mrs. Helen Lether and Ira B. Baker, all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Iona Poulson, Arco, Idaho; Mrs. Afton Wood, Mesa, Ariz., and Daniel Baker, San Francisco; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Mrs. Mary Rumel, Bountiful, Utah; and Mrs. Ida Thomas, Price, Utah.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Malad Second LDS Ward with Bishop A. G. Willie officiating. Friends may call at the family home, 137 Bannock St., after 4 p.m. Sunday and until time of services Monday.
Interment will be in the Malad City Cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.
