Cordelia (Kautz) Forrest Mayfield

She was the daughter of Kokomo Tribune publisher, John A. Kautz, and his wife, Inez (Gillen) Kautz. She married Jacob Dorsey Forrest and had two daughters, Cecily and Cordelia. Her husband died in November 1930. She remained a widow until remarrying in the early 1960s. She was active in the publication of the Kokomo Tribune acting as both reporter and part-owner in later years.

Beulah, Michigan — Cordelia F. Mayfield, 96, Beulah, died Saturday, April 11, 1986, in Benzie County Medical Care Facility, Frankfort at Frankfort. She was born April 30, 1890 in Kokomo, Indiana, the daughter of John Arthur and Inez (Gillen) Kautz, and was a former partner in ownership of the Kokomo Tribune. Mayfield moved here from Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1978 and was a member of First Christian Church, Kokomo Morning Musicale and PEO Sisterhood. She was married to J. Dorsey Forrest, who died in 1930. Then she married Clyde T. Mayfield, who died in 1978. Surviving are two daughters, Cecily Williams of Beulah and Cordelia Douset of Great Falls, Virginia; four grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and a step-great-great-grandchild. Three sisters preceded her in death. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bennett Funeral Home here. The Rev. Forrest Hope will officiate. Burial will be in Benzonia Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Benzie County Medical Care Facility Recreational Fund.
