GLADYS RUSTAD DEGNER Entered peacefully into God's care at the Hayward Convalescent Hospital, in Hayward on April 20, 2006. She was 93 years old. Gladys was born on January 15, 1913 in Sacred Heart Minnesota to Christian and Anna Rustad. She married her husband, Leonard, in 1939 in Northwood, Iowa. In 1948 the family left Minnesota and came to Castro Valley. Gladys was a homemaker for most of her life and took great pride in her home and family. She shared with her husband, Len, a strong faith and was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Castro Valley, and supported her husband, Len, who was the chairman of the building project in 1959, of the present church sanctuary. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Leonard; daughter, Linda Moglia; her parents, two brothers, Oscar and Palmer, as well as her sisters, Adeline Thompson and Lenora Hoff. She is survived by her sons, Dennis and his wife, Marlene, Duane and his wife, Virginia; son-in-law, Frank Moglia and grandchildren, Barbara Degner and her partner, Terry Rocha, Karyn Degner and her partner, Roy Geddes and Michael Degner. She also leaves behind four great grandchildren, Brandon Degner, Treves Manteufel, Taylor Manteufel and Camille Manteufel. When her children were older she became the bookkeeper for the family business Len Degner Construction Company and worked tirelessly along side her husband, Len. Devoted to her family, she lovingly took care of her husband, Leonard for many years before his passing. She was the touchstone for her family and there are fond memories of many dinners and camping trips they took together. Gladys loved to read, do crafts, attend baseball games, bird watching and enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren as often as possible. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 20080 Redwood Rd., Castro Valley on April 30, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. PRIVATE inurnment at Lone Tree Cemetery, Hayward, .
