Anna Rosetta Harger

Anna Rosetta Harger was born on February 12th, 1924 in Ravenna, Nebraska to Carlton and Fannie Kiplinger. She passed away on Friday, April 24th, 2009 from Alzheimers. She was united in marriage to Kenneth O. Harger on September 1st, 1947 in Medford, Oregon. Anna had a servant's heart. Whether it was a place to stay or a meal to share, she was the first to serve her guest and the last to eat. Anna is remembered lovingly for her thoughtfulness. She sent cards and letters for every occasion. Anna loved the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth and sisters Mary Kimbrough and Ruth Hutchins. After her husband passed away, Anna moved to Roseburg to be close to her daughter and son-in-law. During the beginning stages of her Alzheimers, Anna wrote this poem. It is our hope that if someone close to you has this disease, her poem might help you know a little about what is happening in their mind.

From the Heart

Please try to understand
What I am now, not think of me
As I was.
I am alone shut in
With my fears,
My frustrations,
My forgetfulness.

Forgive me if I strike out at you.
Why do I do that?
What has happened to me?
I cannot cope with this alien world.
I feel threatened. I am frightened.

Speak softly, approach slowly.
Repeat again and again what you want of me.
Those twisted tangles in my brain
Have messed up my world.

Be patient for
I do love you.
And I need your help and love
So very, very much.

Rest in peace, Anna/Sister/Mom/Aunt/Grandma/Friend. Until we meet again, may our dear Lord hold you and keep you in His loving arms.

Her memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29th, 2009 at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, 2201 North Phoenix Rd., Medford, Oregon. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, April 28th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elevator Fund at Cornerstone, a Free Methodist Congregation, 2837 W. Harvard Ave., Roseburg, Oregon 97471. Arrangements by Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, Medford, OR.
