Daughter of Henry Charles Pitman and Mary Davis, wife of Andrew J Abbott Jr. They were the parents of eight children.

I realize the headstone says 1855, but that is not correct. On her death certificate her son Wm. Rayford Abbott was the informant and put Jan. as month, but there is no year listed. Then it states age 70 years and 11 months. Which would be Jan 30, 1860 using a birth calculator.

The 1900 census says is her first marriage and married 25 years with her birth date as Oct 1863.

The cause of death was suicide by fire. I have learned in my research that she was living with her son Ollie in 1930 after her husband Jack died. 1933 was during the depression. I believe she missed Jack, was depressed and felt herself to be a burden... she also made a statement that her daughter had died by fire ten years before. She poured kerosene on herself. It has taken me many years to decide to put this on her memorial, it was never mentioned as I was growing up from my dad or grandfather and I find it very sad as she seems to have been a good wife and caring loving mother.

PS The only daughter I know of that died in 1923 was Mary Elizabeth Jones but was not from fire?
