George "Cubby" Aday, age 80, Florence, Ala., died March 5, 2011.
Visitation was Monday, March 7, at Colbert Memorial Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today in the chapel, with burial to follow at Old Brick Cemetery. Brother Larry Young and Brother Wayne Green will officiate. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Leona Aday; daughters, Wanda Aday, Dorothy Mae Aday Fisher and Gladys Marie Aday Scott; brothers, Orville, Howard, Buford and James Aday; and sister, Virginia Gasque. Survivors include his wife of 25 wonderful years, Pat Allen Aday, of Florence; sons, Troy Collett (Janis), of Killen, and Billy Aday (Peggy), of Florence; daughter, Stacey Hatton (Buddy), of Sheffield; brothers, John Aday (Rosie May), of Nitrate City, Jack Aday (Virginia), of Northport, Billy Aday (Betty), of Cherokee, David Russell Aday (Joan) and Ernie Aday, of Bear Creek; sisters, Bessie Speegle, of Cherokee, Barbara Jones (Claudie), of Florence, Faye Wilkes (Aubrey), of Center Star, and Brenda Jackson (O'Neal), of Cherokee; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Taylor Rikard, Channing Hatton, Greg Lawson II, Billy Allen, Roman Price, Andy Wisdom, Isaaih Price and Charles Allen Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Aday, Mason Price, John Crandall, Carl Ray Allen, Ronnie Scott and Marshall Aday. The family would like to thank Dr. Felix Morris, Dr. Holden and caregiver "Mrs. Charlie" for the care given to our dear loved one. Mr. Aday was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. He loved to travel and enjoyed his family. He was better known as "The Transmission Man." Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association , the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Colbert Memorial Chapel of the Shoals is directing.
