Russell Lowell Mines, age 84, passed away of natural causes on March 6, 2000 at his home in Murray.

Born Feb. 1, 1916 in Murray, Utah to William Henry and Josephine Gilbert Mines. Married Elsie Rushton on Feb. 1, 1937.Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Police officer for Murray City for 24 years, volunteer fireman for Murray City for many years. A member of the Murray City Fireman's and Police Association, Chapter 1 of the Good Sam Club "Ute Salt Shakers", "Mafia Breakfast Club" which he was Godfather of. Graduated from Murray High School where he lettered in track, football and basketball.

Survived by, wife, Elsie; children, Dora (Larry) Froisland, Toby (Jan) Mines, Sally (Jerry) Madsen, Janette (David) Ridges, Linda (Ray) Jaggi, Grant (Maridean) Mines; 32 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; brother, Herman G. Mines.

The family wishes to thank all friends and family who have shown love and support, special thanks to IHC Hospice Team.

Funeral services will be held Thursday March 9, 2000 at 12 noon at the Murray 11th Ward, 5750 Nena Way. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St. and Thursday at the church one hour prior to service. Interment Murray City Cemetery.
