Since she was six years of age she lived with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Rinehart. Edna and her older sister, Elsie walked to Claypool on Sunday evening, June 22 to attend a meeting at the United Brethren church. They got a ride home with George Deaton. After the girls got in, he was attempting to get into the buggy when the horse started. The horse became unmanageable. George was dragged about a square before he was forced to let go of the lines. The girls were unable to reach the lines and so they jumped out. Edna did not regain consciousness and died the following day.
Compliments of a volunteer librarian.
