Emmett Abell, 75, died December 5 at his home in Alva, Oklahoma, of a heart ailment.
Son of the late Wiliam Joseph and Mary Shoffner Abell, he was born near Buffalo, and moved to Oklahoma in 1909.
He was a life-long member of the Baptist Church. A farmer, he retired in the autumn of 1949.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Bush, of Alva, and Mrs. Mary Parsons, Dacoma; three grandchildren, one great granddaughter; one brother, Arthur Abell, of near Hodgenville, and three sisters, Mrs. Addie Thompson and Mrs. Sada Fulton, of Louisville, and Mrs. Rosa Uptegrove, Bloomington, ILL.
Funeral services and burial took place in Alva, OKLA.
Bettie attended White School District 28 in Green County, Kentucky in 1894. She moved from Green County to Alva, Woods County, Oklahoma in 1908. She and her family went to Oklahoma with Betty's brother, Thomas J. Thompson in 1908. The Thompsons returned to Kentucky, but the Abells spent their lives there.
