Clyde Bowen, age 80, well-known rural resident, passed away early this morning at the Richland Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Marshall Funeral Home with the Rev. Lowell McDowell officiating. Military graveside rites will be rendered by the Olney Veterans organizations.

Mr. Bowen was born in Richland County, the son of William Bowen and Julia Fishel Bowen.

He had lived his entire lifetime in the community of his birth, except for a time when he was in the service of his country during World War 1.

He was married to Martha Webber on March 19, 1921.

He was a member of Richland Post No. 30 of the American Legion and Richland Barracks of World War I Veterans.

He leaves his wife, Martha and four sons: Clyde Bowen Jr. of St. Joseph, Glenn Bowen of West Salem, Marion Bowen of Olney and Loy Bowen of Springfield. There are 10 grandchildren and three great grandsons. He also leaves a brother, Clarence Bowen of Olney.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by the following half-brothers and half-sister; Charles, John, Clint, Ed and Frank Bowen and Mrs. Alma May. Also preceding him in death were brothers Harry, Dora and Freddie and a sister, Mattie Wyatt.
