Peter Heck died Wednesday evening at 6 o'clock at his home in Clark township. For two years or more his health had been rapidly declining and in that time he had scarcely driven farther from his home than to Needham. In the recent months he had been confined to his room nearly all the time. He was one of the oldest citizens of the county and one of its largest land owners. He was born in Shelby county in June 1825, being the son of Jacob Heck,one of the pioneers of that county who had come from Pennsylvania.
Besides his wife he is survived by eleven children, six sons and five daughters,namely: John R. of Indianapolis, James B. of Bishop,California, Wm.A, George. Abe and Samual and Mrs. Mary Spencer, Mrs. Elizabeth Welliver, Mrs. Saloma Trout, Mrs. Naunie Trout, Mrs. Emma Vaught, and two daughterswho are with their mother at the homestead.
Mr. Heck was a successful farmer and no one in the county was more widely known.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the residence conducted by Rev. Brown pastor of the Rocklane Methodist church.

Just prior to the writing of the will Mr.Heck deeded forty acres to each of his eleven living children. This with the 300 acres remaining made 740 acres of land that he owned at that time.
His widow Mrs. Jennie Heck is given the real estate except 36 acres which was willed to his grand daughter, Flossie H. Moore, to be held by her during her natural lifetime then to be dividedequally among the children or heirs. Mrs. Heck is also given one third of all the personal property after any debts and expenses have been paid.
James B. Heck is named as guardian of Flossie H. Moore.
His sons James B. and George W. are jointly named as executors of his estate. The latter qualified Wednesday under the will giving a personal bond with Herny Williams, George W. Wild and T.E. Valentine as sureties.
