Voda T. Bates of Highland, a native of Paradise, Texas, lived in Highland and San Bernardino County for 33 years, died Friday of heart failure at San Bernardino Community Hospital at the age of 86. She was a member of the Uptown Church of Christ and was survived by two sons, Cecil R. of San Bernardino and Donald E. of Crestline, a daughter, Dorothy R. McKay of San Bernardino, 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Bobbitt Memorial Chapel is handling the funeral arrangement with service at their chapel at 10 a.m. on Thursday with privat interment. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation to Uptown Church of Christ or the the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund.
