L. Z. Bates, born in Altus, Oklahoma on May 1, 1904 and a county resident for 19 years, died in San Bernardino on October 18, 1982 at the age of 78. He was a farmer and a member of the "E" Street Church of Christ in San Bernardino. He was survived by his wife, Voda of San Bernardino, two sons, Cecil of Clovis, New Mexico and Donald of Crestline, 1 daughter, Mrs. Dorothy McKay of San Bernardino, one brother, Bob of Mississippi and one sister, Beulah Chenault of Houston, Texas, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Bobbitt Memorial Chapel with interment at Montecito Memorial Park.
