To this union five children were born, Henrietta, dying in infancy, Stanley M. and Charles F. after they reached maturity, the latter in the World War upon the sea. Arthur and Hobart reside in Chariton. Mr. and Mrs. Dean continued to reside on the farm until 1912 when they moved to Chariton, there Mrs. Dean was called to death on July 9, 1923.

After the death of his first wife he returned to Indiana and purchased the old home farm which he owned at the time of his death. He was again married to Ida Larabee of Hayden who survives him.
