John was the second son born to George Washington Ruckman and Lucretia Cassanna Neville Ruckman. I believe his middle initials listed on his cemetery stone, stand for Henry Thompson.
John was named for his maternal great grandfather Henry Neville Sr. of Ohio and for Henry Neville Jr. of Ohio, John's great uncle. John carried the middle name of Thompson or Thomas, for his maternal grandfather Edward Thompson Neville. John's maternal grandmother was Margaret Peggy Jane McGuire Neville, born Floyd County, Kentucky, wife of Edward Thompson Neville.

According to John's obituary written shortly after the time of his death. John died from his illness of typhoid fever. He was 17 years of age. The article was written in the local "Alicel ,Oregon Happenings" section of the old newspaper and was just a short bit of information. I found the news record regarding his death at the LaGrande,Oregon History Center during my visit there in 2012. There is no death certificate for John. The state of Oregon did not require death certificate to be issued during the year 1891.
John's father George Washington Ruckman afew years later came down with typhoid , but George recovered from that illness.
Family information, from Great niece Delores, more biography to be written.
