Lin Owen Farm Is Part of Tract of Pioneer Settler
Mr. and Mrs. J. Lin Owen, who have observed 57 years of marriage, live on an 80-acre tract of land which is actually part of a larger acreage entered by Mr. Owen's grandfather, David Reynolds, approximately 120 years ago.
This land is located on the Lincolnville road in Lagro township and joins a farm owned by Amos B. Reynolds, which was also entered by the early pioneer.
Mr. Owen's mother, Matilda B. Reynolds, was married to James I. Owen and they were the parents of three sons and a daughter, Charles Owen, LaFontaine; A.T. Owen, Polo, Ill.; Mrs. Will Engleman, near Lincolnville, and the son who owns the farm.
Mr. Owen, who is 80 years old, said that his family moved to the homesite in 1868 and that the first house was a small board affair and was later replaced by the present home-that was in 1884.
Mrs. Owen was the former Clara E. Proctor. Mr. and Mrs. Owen are the parents of two children, Mrs. Mary Teague at home and Loren Owen, Plymouth. They are affiliated with the Lincolnville Methodist church.
