Church record from Jördenstorf, Mecklenburg-Schwerin shows that Friederica Caroline Johanna was born to Ludwig Bastian, shepherd from Marienhof and Sophia, born Schlorf on 19 July 1835. She was christened on 22 July 1835.

Obituary from "Calumet County" newspaper, published New Holstein, Wisconsin:
"PASSED AWAY
Miss Fredericka Wieting passed away at her home on the farm, two and one-fourth miles north of this village, that she had lived on for the past half century, on Sunday, November 21st(1909), at the age of 74 years. She was born in Marienhof, Megelinburgh Schwerin, Germany in 1835. Nineteen years later she came to this country and settled in New York state, where she was one year later married to Mr Wieting. They lived in that state four years and then moved to New Holstein and settled on the farm where she has made a happy and pleasant home for her family. She was a hard working woman who believed in taking spiritual relief from her labors and every Sunday when the weather permitted, she attended the Methodist church in the township of Schleswig of which she was a member. When they came to this country it was nothing but a wilderness, but by the untiring efforts of her husband and the wife working side by side they hewed out of the woods a farm that they were well pleased with and that has given them comfort in their declining years. In all, eleven children were born to them, seven of whom are dead, the others are Fred, of this place, August, a minister at Ripon, George, living in Texas, Hilda & Henry Schmidt, an adopted son who have lived with the parents on the farm. Mr Wieting died about two years ago. The funeral was held Friday afternoon at two o'clock and she was placed in the cemetery beside her husband in the town of Schleswig. Rev. Schmidt of Brillion officiating. Those from away who attended the funeral were Henry Leverenz and family of Sheboygan and Wm. Leverenz and family of Waldo."
