OBITUARY
Mrs. Lucy Mackey died at Pleasant Hill August 22, at 8 O'Clock a.m. at the home of her son, Bert Mackey. The deceased was born in Virginia, March 22, 1833, and was therefore aged 73 years and 5 months. She crossed the plains by mule team in 1882 with her husband and family and lived in Oregon since that time, until one year ago, she returned to Nebraska to visit her son-in-law and grand-children. Returning to Oregon August 1, 1906 she became ill upon her arrival and never recovered. Her death was caused by paralysis.
Mrs. Mackey was a member of the Christian church for a number of years. A few years ago, she took the faith of the Baptist church. She was the mother of eleven children, seven of whom survived her, as follows: Henry C., of Potlach, Idaho; John W., of Holly, Ore.; Samual C., of Lebanon, Ore.; Gilford E. of Bridgeport, Wash; Gilbert E, of Pleasant Hill, Ore; Mrs. Rose Blakely, of Lowell, Ore; and Mrs. Pairlee Hennings, of Hicksville, Ohio. The deceased's husband died twenty two years ago. The funeral interment took place at Pleasant Hill Thursday.
