Charles W Axt, 80, died at 1:30 PM Thursday at the Methodist hospital following an extended illness of complications. He made his home here with his son, Sgt Chester W Axt of the Fort Wane police department, at 454 East Lewis street. Mr Axt was a life-long resident of Fort Wayne. He was a member of St Paul's Lutheran church and the BUV. Surviving besides Sgt Axt are a daughter, Mrs Emma Schultz of Anaheim, Calif., another son, Carl A Axt of this city; and three grandchildren. The body was taken to the DO McComb & Sons' funeral home. Journal Gazette (Fort Wayne) - April 7, 1944
