Charles R. Meyer, 73, of 511 Broadway Ave., Kiel, died at 3:30 this morning at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan following a lengthy illness. He was born on April 16, 1883 in the Town of Schleswig, the son of the late John and Frances Meyer. He attended parochial school at St. Nazianz and on Oct. 15, 1907, was married tot he former Mary Schneider of Town Meeme. The marriage was performed at St. Fidelis Church in Spring Valley. The couple operated a farm in the Town of Centerville for several years before moving to a farm in Schleswig where they lived for the next 28 years until his retirement in 1942.
He was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and a member of the Holy Name Society. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel following brief services at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home at 9:30. The Rev. F.X. Kheil will be the celebrant of the requiem mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home from 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon until time of services.
The Holy Name Society will recite the Rosary at the church at 7:30 Monday night. Survivors include: the widow; six daughters, Sister Mary Delores, at Mingo Junction, Sister Anthony Padua, at Plymouth, Sister Charlene, at Manitowoc, Mrs. Bernard (Florence) Seichter, of Sheboygan, Mrs. Joseph (Gertrude) Muehlbauer of Kiel, and Mrs. Edwin (Romilda) Stemper, of New Holstein; four sons, Henry, Sylvan, Ralph and Walter, all of Kiel; 35 grandchildren; one brother, Peter, in Canada; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Habersettzer, of Francis, Wash.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph, three sisters and three brothers.
