He married Lavina Ellen Long on March 16, 1922 at Winner, South Dakota. To this union eight children were born. They were Thelma Mae, Lester Elgen, Deloris Elain, William C, Arlene Ruth, Dorthy Elizabeth, Shirley Jean and Violet Joann.
Jacob passed away on January 9, 1988 at Rapid City, South Dakota at the age of ninety years.
