The death has occurred at Palmerston North at the age of 81 years of Mr James Grant, formerly of Woodville. Mr Grant settled at Woodville in the early 'nineties and was engaged in droving and farming, taking a keen interest in stud stock. He was a recognised authority on Shorthorn stock. Mr Grant did valuable work in connection with the Woodville Agricultural and Pastoral Association. After serving for a term on the Woodville Borough Council he was elected Mayor, holding office during 1912 and 1913. For three years preceding his death Mr Grant lived in retirement at Palmerston North. He is survived by his wife and one child.
The friends of the late James Grant are respectfully informed that his funeral will leave the Public Hospital to-day (Monday), June 27th, 1932, at 2 p.m., for the Woodville Cemetery, arriving there at about 3 p.m.
