Fredrick Lee Abbitt Sr., of Bloomington died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Bloomington Nursing and Rehab Center. He was 66 years old.

Born November 24, 1942, in Monroe County, he was the son of James E. and Ephra Z. (White) Abbitt. He graduated from University High School. He was a plumber in Bloomington for 30 years. In his younger days he loved driving race cars; he enjoyed working on cars and race cars all of his life. His grandchildren were his great joy in life.

He is survived by his wife Linda L. (Lake) Abbitt of Bloomington, and their sons: Fredrick Abbitt Jr., Ronald J. Abbitt and Jonathon Abbitt all of Bloomington; his four grandchildren: Denelle Louise Abbitt, Holley Orman, Jaymee Moran and Cloe' Marie Abbitt all of Bloomington; one great-granddaughter, Kaydence Bell of Bloomington; four sisters: Barbara McGlocklin and her husband Gilbert of Bloomington, Madeline Morris of Indianapolis, Wanda Rose White and her husband Warren of Spencer and Pam Stogsdill of Bloomington; three brothers: James Abbitt Jr. and his wife Shirley, Donald Abbitt and his wife Joyce and Daniel Abbitt and his wife Dawn, all of Bloomington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Cecil Abbitt; and one sister, Nancy Hillenburg.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 4-8 p.m. at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old State Road 37. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
