The death of L.D. Scowden, a prominent and respected resident of Farmers Valley, occured last Friday afternoon at 2:10 pm.
For many years the deceased was employed in important positions in the oil fields of this section. He was an honest, upright citizen whose loss is keenly felt by a host of friends.
Leon David Scowden was born Feb. 23, 1862 at Geneva, Crawford County, Pa.
Deceased is survived by his wife, two sons Eugene and Leslie of Farmers Valley: four daughters, Mrs. Ella Skinner of Cyclone, Mrs. Margaret Dugan of Butler, and the Misses Rena and Iola Scowden at home. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Ada App of Bakersfield, California.
A son, Rexford J Scowden, was a member of the A.E.F. and was killed in action in France during the World War.
Funeral services were held Monday. Rev. W.E. VanDyke of St. Luke's church affiliating and interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery.
