Mrs. Maria Melrose, 84 years old, died at the family home, 813 W. California, late Monday night. Mrs. Melrose came to Oklahoma City in 1887 and ran the section house two years before the town of Oklahoma City was founded. She has resided on California avenue since 1895. The body is being held at Watts & Gary funeral home pending arrival of relatives.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary Curry, Topeka, Kan., and six sons, T.F. Melrose, Fletcher, Okla.; L.O. Melrose, city; R.B. Melrose, Welston, Okla.; C.H. Melrose, Carnegie, Okla., J.G. Melrose and R.E. Melrose of this city.

Funeral services for Mrs. Maria Melrose, 84 years old, one of the early settlers of Oklahoma, who died at her home, 813 W. California avenue Monday night, will be conducted by Rev. W.H.B. Urch at the Watts & Gary funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Burial will be at Fairlawn cemetery.
